File No: 09-03-014
Location: Wapwallopen, PA - Luzerne County

Investigation Date and Duration:
February 14th, 2009 Arrive 7:00pm / Depart 1:00am

Location Status:

This is a two story residence built in the 1800's occupied by two adults and two children. The residence was once owned by Dr. Frederick Santee, a local medical doctor who, in the 1920's, was the youngest person ever to attend Harvard University, starting at age 13 and graduating at the age of 17 years old. He went on to obtain two PHD's and his MD. This particular residence was used to house the nurses who worked for him across the street at his main home and built in doctor's office. The nurses were also believed to be part of his coven as Dr. Santee was believed to be a satanic priest by some and a witch by others. Local information indicates that Dr. Santee held occult ceremonies in this house with his coven. Further research leads us to believe that Dr. Santee may have practiced Wicanism rather than satanism as well as Alchemy and any rituals that took place there would then not have been of a negative or dark nature if that was the case.

AUDIO and EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon):

VR1 (Digital Voice Recorder) At 10:22PM with the client still sitting quietly in the living room and two investigators nearby, VR1 recorded an unknown series of sounds that sounded like a young child or a cat. The family cat was accounted for and not a factor for this anomaly. Neither client nor investigators heard or responded to this noise at the time. Near the end of the clip you can hear investigators begin to talk quite normally without questioning the noise. The intermittent popping/banging in the background is a normal result of the heating system. VR1 was stationary in the living room.

- At 11:01PM, VR1 captured the sound of the client’s digital camera that was hanging from a hook on the kitchen wall, turn on by itself. Investigators were sitting approximately two feet away at the time this happened. **Also see below Investigator Feelings/Experiences section.

VR2
(Digital Voice Recorder) At 10:00PM, VR2 captured a loud pop or bang noise that seemed to originate near the rear staircase in the computer room. The source could not be readily identified. VR2 was mobile with investigators who were present in the room at the time of the noise. Nothing moving or falling was observed on any of the DVR cameras covering this and surrounding rooms.

Pictured left - the living room where two anomalous noises were captured. Clients have reported hearing voices, seeing shadows move and seeing figures in this area. Pictured center - Lauren at command with the client's camera hanging on the wall behind her. This camera turned on by itself for no apparent reason near three witnesses.
Pictured right - the doorway between  the dining and computer rooms where Lauren witnessed what appeared to be a man walk into the archway but then disappeared.

EMF (Electro Magnetic Field):

Standard baseline readings were taken throughout the building with expected spikes near electrical appliances. No anomalous EMF’S detected.

Investigator Feelings / Experiences:

MarkPresent when a loud pop was heard in the computer room and the source was not identified. At 11:01PM Mark was sitting at our computer monitor that was set up in the kitchen with Lauren and the client when the client’s digital camera that was hanging from a hook on a nearby wall turned on by itself. No logical explanation for this could be found during examination and subsequent follow up with the manufacture indicated that the camera should not do that nor could the manufacturer provide any reason for it to turn on by itself. **Also see above audio section.

Lauren During the initial equipment setup, Lauren was taping down video cables in the dining room and thought another investigator, Chris walked up to and was standing in the doorway to the computer room a few feet away. When Lauren turned to talk to him, no one was there. Lauren checked for the whereabouts of everyone present and no one was in the computer room or near that area at the time but Lauren reported seeing a man standing there for a brief moment. Lauren was also present when the loud pop was heard in the computer room and when the client’s camera turned on by itself.

Rich – Nothing to report.

Chris – Nothing to report.

Black mass figures have been seen in this upstairs hallway and a visitor has witnessed a man standing at the top of
                                                                    the
stairs looking out a window in the upper room.

Conclusion:

During the time spent at this location a few unusual events took place that could not be reasonably explained, such as the digital camera turning on by itself and some unaccounted for noises along with a few personal experiences. With the activity present on this particular date, The PPA feels that it is worth conducting a follow up investigation at this location and will continue to work with the clients in an attempt to identify the cause of any paranormal activity or to identify natural causes for the activity experienced and still being reported.
